A 4 days intense masterclass with the former Disney animator Samantha Youssef. For those in the animation, VFX and gaming business who which to excel them self.
When: 10-13 april 2012
Where: Xenter, Tumba, Stockholm
Day 1 and 2 Life drawing and character design. Lectures combined with workshops about capture the essence of character. Both in the sense of posing, storytelling and design.
Day 3 and 4 Character animation. lectures. Focus will be on the acting part of animation. And completely independent of what technique or software you use.
Teacher: Samantha Yussef have been working as character animator on Walt Disney studios for several feature films aswell as Yowsa animation (Curious george), Filmax and UBIsoft. She is currently running the education company Studio technique in Montreal, Canada.
Price:
Ordinary price: 3.900 SEK (inc VAT 4.875 sek)
Price for SAAVA members: 3.400 SEK (inc VAT 4.250 sek)
It’s possible to sign up for SAAVA membership at the same time as you sign up for the masterclass. Membership fee for 2012 is 100 SEK (students 50 SEK)
The fee includes lectures, coffee/thé, refreshments and lunch. Course language is english. The level on this masterclass is not suitable for beginners.

Job Description:
- Work as part of the production team to implement viable VFX solutions
- Work with VFX Supervisors to create, implement and run schedule; track and manage the work flow through the department, meeting internal and external deadlines
- Ensure the visual effects team understand the goals and deadlines for specific projects
- Ensure good organisation of Dailies, rounds and meetings, the taking of notes and following up on information as necessary
- Maintaining project databases
- Create accurate bids
- Keep communication flowing from Supervisor to Leads and crew to all other departments
- Oversee execution of client deliveries of all wip’s and finals
- Manage artists and clients
- Manage resources and communicate coherently with other support departments.
- Propose new and efficient ways to improve production workflow at ILP
- Helping to maintain a positive, upbeat and professional production office, being pro-active and solution-oriented for all members of the team
- Develop new business from local and alternative commercial/film markets
Essential:
- Highly organised, first-class time/project management skills
- Previous scheduling experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to prioritise conflicting tasks
- Must have the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
- Ability to remain calm and confident under pressure and when working to tight deadlines
- Ability to work within a team towards a common goal
- Good knowledge of MS Office packages (incl Excel, Word)
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a visual effects producer
- In depth understanding of CG based VFX workflow
- On-set production experience

gscept.com och Luleå tekniska universitet arrangerar ett årligen återkommande event där studenter från datorgrafik och datorspelsutvecklingsprogrammen i Skellefteå presenterar sitt arbete för allmänheten. I årets upplaga av grad show dyker dessutom gäster från tre av världens största filmeffektföretag upp för att träffa studenterna samt presentera sina företag och produktioner.
Bland årets grafikerprojekt återfinner vi animerade kortfilmer, VFX av olika slag samt miljöer och karaktärer för spelproduktion. Spelutvecklarna presenterar datadriven AI programmering och innovativ spelmotorteknik för webbläsare.
De företag som dyker upp är Moving Picture Company, kända för bland annat effekter i Harry Potter och Narnia filmerna, Double Negative som nyligen vann en oscar för effekterna i filmen Inception, samt Framestore som har gjort effekter för bland annat filmer som Avatar, The Golden Compass och Sherlock Holmes.
